  • Suffered significant hardship

  • Recognized as highly gifted

  • No resources or family connections which can provide a basic education

Selection Process

  1. Each child must be nominated by an adult who knows the child well and believes he or she will be a good fit for the school (application link)

  2. Each child will complete a series of “tests/games/puzzles” in order to gauge academic potential

  3. Each child who appears to be a good match for the SLA after the first 2 steps will be personally interviewed by the SLA school president or her representative
